Our first feature coincides with FairTrade Fortnight, which is running until March 13th. Lemonaid Beverages' Lemonaid and ChariTea drinks have been named Ethical Consumer's Best Buys for soft drinks 2016, so we thought it timely to sing our praises for them both.

 Lemonaid: The perfect trio.

Lemonaid: The perfect trio.

There are currently 3 Lemonaid drinks: Lime, Passion Fruit and Blood Orange, and four flavours of ChariTea: Green, Red, Black and Mate (pronounced maah-tay, and our favourite of the lot).

In both Lemonaid and ChariTea drinks, the ingredients are kept minimal: Lemonaid blends juice with a touch of cane sugar and sparkling water, and ChariTea complements its tea with agave syrup. All are made from fairtrade, organic ingredients sourced from small farming cooperatives across the globe, with the aim to give back to the people involved in the process.

From helping to improve career prospects for Sri Lankans to providing a welcome space in Hamburg for refugees, you can find out more about the company's work here.

Current stockists include Whole Foods, Gail's Bakery and Black Cat Hackney - we've also spotted ChariTea at the new Canal Cafe that's taken over inSpiral's site at Camden.

ChariTea's RRP is £1.29 and Lemonaid's is £1.59 - sustainable steals amongst London's premium soft drink offerings, although actual retail price varies depending on the store.

On top of their fresh flavours, one thing we love about Lemonaid Beverages is that they encourage you to upcycle your bottles into creations such as salt & pepper shakers and soap dispensers, so you can pile some eco-friendly on top of your sustainability. Your imagination's the limit - but if you're stuck for ideas, Team Lemonaid Germany are ones to look to for inspiration.

Till next week, happy eating!
