The British love a good dessert: ice cream cones, cream-topped milkshakes and - more recently - frozen yoghurt, lovingly nicknamed 'fro-yo'. A summer's outing in London isn't complete without a scoop, slurp or spoon of the sweet stuff - so where does that leave those of us ditching the dairy?
Introducing Yorica: London's first free-from dessert bar. A pop of pastel blue on Wardour Street, Yorica restores our faith in humanity situated right next to an Iberian ham shop displaying hunks of cut up animals in the window. It might only be March, but the queue's already out of the door with health-foodies and vegans alike lining up for their free-from treats.
There are shakes, ice cream cups & cones and fro-yo flavours - all (wait for it) dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free AND vegan. Top with biscuits, berries, mango, sprinkles... it's all good. Flavours range from nut-free peanut butter to mango, matcha and classic vanilla.
The ingredients: rice milk, seaweed (as a gelatin substitute), vanilla bean paste, crystalline fructose, xanthan gum, guar gums and natural sugars. Yorica explain each ingredient's role here, and we love the transparency.

A medium-sized dessert or shake will cost around a fiver. We took a bunch of people there on Monday night and got a bit excited with toppings, with our ice cream cup coming to £5.85.
Hitting our sweet spot before summer's even arrived, Yorica is bringing a touch of sunshine to Soho and we can't wait to head back.
